Wire Rope Clip (U-Bolt Clip)

A wire rope clip, also known as a U bolt clip, is a mechanical fastener used to secure the loose end of a wire rope loop back to the main rope. It consists of three main parts:

  • U-bolt – the curved section that fits over the rope.
  • Saddle – the base plate that the rope rests on.
  • Nuts – used to tighten the U-bolt and secure the rope.

Applications:

  • Creating wire rope eye loops.
  • Joining two wire ropes together.
  • Providing temporary or permanent rope terminations.
  • Used in rigging, lifting, hoisting, and securing loads.

For maximum safety, multiple clips are usually applied in series, and they must be tightened correctly to ensure the rope’s holding strength.
